About The Club

Introducing the 178 Comedy Club – a laughter-filled haven established in 2021 at the end of Covid in the heart of Bromsgrove. When the pandemic had subsided, we noticed a lack of entertainment options for the wonderful people in and around Bromsgrove. That’s when the idea struck us to create something unique, something that challenged us, and most importantly, something that brought smiles and laughter back to people’s lives.

Starting out as a passion project, we ventured into the world of comedy shows, a field we had never explored before. Our dedication and enthusiasm led us to offer competitive prices for professional circuit comedians, attracting incredible acts like Jo Enright from Channel 4 Comedy and Phoenix Nights, as well as Dinesh Nathan from Ranganation Comedy.

Our proudest moment came when our shows started selling out, as it solidified our presence in the market and gave us the legitimacy to continue doing what we love – providing unforgettable experiences for our cherished customers who kept coming back for more laughter.

As we grow, we realize the importance of giving back to the community that has embraced us with open arms. We are now committed to exploring opportunities to host educative comedy nights, adding a unique twist to the entertainment landscape. Additionally, we’re looking forward to nurturing local talent and aspiring comedians by hosting amateur nights in the near future.

We invite you to be a part of our laughter-filled journey. Join us at the 178 Comedy Club and experience the joy and warmth that comes with sharing laughter together. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as we continue to bring the best of comedy to Bromsgrove and beyond!

ANNETTE FAGON & FREDDIE FARREL + host

“With this sort of retro observational comedy, she’s just like Peter Kay would be – well, if he were female, black and from Leicester” CHORTLE

Annette Fagon is a loud and engaging comic newcomer, making fast progress on the UK comedy circuit.

Growing up as that rare thing in the midlands of the 1980s, the daughter of a Jamaican newsagent mother, has clearly left its mark.

Despite years of child drama classes and theatre performances, Annette frustrated her mother by spending 6 years at university, leaving without a degree, and returning to work there for a further 2 years.

After a variety of odd jobs – disability support worker, theatre house manager, comedy club waitress – Annette took up an odder job, in stand up comedy 3 years ago.

Currently talking – loudly – about everything from hoodies and mobile phone habits to Beyonce’s mental state, she has made rapid progress, appearing at theatres such as Nottingham Playhouse and comedy clubs such as Jongleurs – on the Upfront Café Tour.

Annette’s early efforts have quickly created a buzz that led to a nomination as Best Newcomer at the 2006 BECA Awards and Midlands Stand Up Runner up 2007 There’s more to come.

LORNA ROSE-TREEN & SAM SERRANO + host

Lorna Rose Treen debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023 with her character comedy show Skin Pigeon at the Pleasance Courtyard. The entire run sold out by the end of week 1, and her three extra shows sold out in 3 hours. Skin Pigeon gained six 5 Star ✭✭✭✭✭  reviews including from the Telegraph, Evening Standard, Observer and the Independent. She also won Dave’s Best Joke of the Fringe 2023. Skin Pigeon was the Telegraph’s no 1 show to see at fringe, included in the Guardian’s 10 must see shows, Lorna was included in the Evening Standard Top 12 Rising Stars, was a British Comedy Guide Top Tip, and included in the To Do List’s 50 Top Shows.

Reviews for SKIN PIGEON:

  • “[Lorna] pulled off the unprecedented feat of winning both main awards (for stage and screen work), and her skits have had millions of views on Tiktok. Off the back of all that, her Fringe debut has now sold out its month-long run. Could it possibly live up to expectations? The answer, thankfully, is yes: Skin Pigeon is a gloriously daft hour from one of the most exciting young comics around.”  ✭✭✭✭✭  Telegraph
  • “Newcomer Lorna Rose Treen has created the biggest buzz so far, with rave reviews from critics, and word-of-mouth plaudits from the public….Skin Pigeon is an oddball character-based comedy like no other. Unless something else even more brilliant comes along, which is not out of the question given the high standard of the Fringe this year, she must be a favourite for another nod when the festival ends later this month.”  ✭✭✭✭✭ Evening Standard
  • “Quite simply the most fun a person can have in a room featuring folding chairs” ✭✭✭✭✭ Observer
